Getting Started

The shortest path from installation to a useful barometer.

1. Install and check the sensor

Install the APK and open Marine Barometer. A device without a pressure sensor cannot provide barometer or altimeter measurements; the app will indicate that pressure data is unavailable.

2. Set your barometer reference

For an accurate sea-level barometer reading, Marine Barometer needs the elevation of the reference location and a reliable local sea-level pressure (QNH/barometer) reference. Use MENU → CALIBRATE when you have both.

3. Choose the right-hand instrument

The left-hand Barometer remains the primary instrument. The right-hand panel can display the Altimeter, Pressure Trend, Clock or Tide Clock. Use the instrument controls in the app to select the display you want.

4. Logging is optional

If you want pressure history, select or reauthorize the Marine Barometer log folder under MENU → SETUP, then start logging. Once a logging session is running you can pause it while travelling and resume the same session later.

5. Set the other instruments only if you need them

The Altimeter has its own QNH/QFE/QNE reference controls. The Tide Clock has its own location and tide reference, independent of the Barometer location. The Clock can display local time or UTC.
